Webmasters - Tim Bornholdt
Tim Bornholdt, a.k.a. timmyb and tim, has been in the community for quite a few years. His site, That's Unpossible, has long been known for setting the standards in character sites, and has been ranked up with masterpieces such as Little Miss Springfield and Serious Burns.

Who have been some major influences in your web work and in your general life?

My early work never had an influence, to tell you the truth. I basically used the same boring stuff everyone else used. Last Exit to Springfield and Behind the Laughter have both influenced my work from the past couple of years. I love the two-panel thing that Adam has done, and I love Jon Levin's creative layouts. In my general life, my biggest influences have been the normal people: friends and family.

You don't have to name names, but, if you had the chance, would you shut down any type of website?

No. At least, not initially. If someone else had the power to shut down my site when I first started, I'd never be where I am today (which, granted, isn't very far). I suppose that if I had to shut down any site, it would be owned by someone with no motivation other than money.

Do you think there is an emphasis on web design over content in the community?

In some cases, yes. However, web design and content are the ying and yang of any website. Having a terrible design and outstanding content is like marrying an ugly librarian. You may have excellent conversation and a lifetime of amusing anecdotes, but you will still be made fun of for marrying a cow. Having a terrific design and no content is like marrying a hot bimbo. Sure, the sex might be good and you ll be the envy of your friends, but when you get home, what do you do? So that s where you need the hot librarian, which is where the larger Simpsons sites are at right now. They have killer designs and even better content.

What is the best season of The Simpsons? Best episode?

I am a huge fan of season 8, although I do thoroughly enjoy watching seasons 6 and 7 on DVD. As for the best episode, I have two. I cannot get enough of A Star Is Burns. The MacGyver is Gay scene has me rolling on the ground every time I see it. My other choice would be Lisa on Ice. The scene where Homer chases Uder with a wet towel is classic Simpsons.

Are you a collector of Simpsons merchandise? If so, what's your collection like?

No, but Ben of Simpson Crazy did send me a bunch when we were doing a SNN show. I have an Itchy and Scratchy game, Hans Moleman and Ralph Wiggum action figures, the KBBL studio, and a framed cover of TV Guide where Ralph was featured.

With the closing of Maggied, No Homers Club is pretty much unopposed for Simpsons discussion. Is this a good or a bad thing?

Was Maggied ever much of a competition? It was a matter of time before they closed. Would I like to see some competition in the community? Sure. Will it happen anytime soon? I highly doubt it. No Homers is just too large for any start-up board to take. I think the only way it could be overthrown is if many respected sites band together and create a mega board. Remember The Message Board?

Have you achieved any honors or degrees in the real world?

Yes. I have been on the A honor roll for three and a half years, I am a member of my school s National Honor Society, and I also am an Eagle Scout.

If you had to work on a labor farm for one Simpsons webmaster, who would you choose?

I have no clue. I seriously looked at this question for 20 minutes, and I am still puzzled by what you're asking. Racist.

Prediction: of course, there will always be The Simpsons on the internet, but will the community as we know it ever pull a Soviet Union?

Are we talking Soviet Union 1960 or Soviet Union Rocky IV? If it is the latter, I guarantee there will be no Rocky to take down this Ivan Drago. The community at NHC is far too solid to split. How many years has the forum been up and taken down all of its competition, including The Message Board and Maggied?

How do you feel about episode downloads?

New episodes: okay. Old episodes, especially ones from the DVDs: nobro. I occasionally download the new ones if I missed the episode, but I ll delete it off my computer when I m done. Why wouldn t you support the show you love by purchasing the DVD? They aren t terribly expensive and they are well put-together.

Will The Simpsons Movie be good?

Absolutely not. Has there ever been a TV show that turned into a good movie? If the movie was done during season 7, when the writing talent was there, then I could see a successful movie. I foresee this movie becoming nothing but a showcase of guest stars and a bunch of toilet humor. If they exploit the wide array of Springfieldians to its fullest, then perhaps it will be good.

Either way, I ll probably download it off the internet. ;-)

Imagine you're trapped in a box, immobile, but able to use a computer. Which webmasters would you put in the other three corners?

Fat ones. I d probably go cannibalistic.

Which sites (not necessarily OFF) do you visit on a regular basis?

Myspace/Facebook, Threadless.com, and shiftercar. Oh, and NHC.

If you were a Family Guy joke, would you be an 80s reference or a five minute repetition?

Five minute repetition, for sure.

You're a known fan of the Opera browser. Defend it in less than 50 words.

Two words: mouse gestures.

Oh, and firefox is gay.
