Name: Matt Groening
Birthday: February 15, 1954
Seasons: 1-3
Matt Groening is the creator of The Simpsons. He named the members,
except Bart which is simply an anagram for brat, after his own family.
He was raised in Portland, Oregon and got his big break when James L.
Brooks of Gracie Films noticed his Life in Hell comic strip, which was
an obscure underground print at the time. He is left hand dominant and
of Russian descent. Matt is also the creator of the hit cartoon Futurama
and currently serves as the creative consultant for both shows.

Brooks
Birthday: May 9, 1940
Seasons: 1-3
James L. Brooks was raised in the Jewish faith in New York City. He had
a very successful career both in television and film. Brooks served as
executive producer on The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Rhoda, Taxi, and The
Tracey Ullman Show before he teamed up with Groening and Simon to
produce The Simpsons. He directed the smash hit film Terms of
Endearment, which in turn won him the Academy Award for Best Director in
1984. James Brooks is most widely known as the founder of Gracie Films.

Name: Sam Simon
Birthday: September 16, 1958
Seasons: 1-3
Sam Simon is the least known man of The Simpsons founding trio. Before
The Simpsons, he worked as a writer on Taxi, Best of the West, and
Cheers; and as a director on Taxi and The Tracey Ullman Show. In 2000 he
was the "Phone a Friend" lifeline for both Drew Carrey and Norm
McDonald. Simon recently founded the charitable organization The Sam
Simon Foundation, which is dedicated to supplying dog related services
to the public.

Name: Al Jean
Birthday: January 9, 1962
Seasons: 4, 13-
Al Jean was raised in rural Michigan. His writing credits 9 to 5, Not
Necessarily The News, ALF, and Sledge Hammer. He has been a writer for
The Simpsons since its debut, and became executive producer for season
4. However, he left the show to work on The Critic in 1994. This show
did not last long, and returned to The Simpsons shortly after. He was
made executive producer once again in season 13, and has been ever
since.

Name: Mike Reiss
Birthday: May 7, 1960
Season: 4
Mike Reiss had a relatively short resume when he came to The Simpsons.
He has produced It's Gary Shandling's Show and directed for Slegde
Hammer and Not Necessarily the News. He has also written for ALF, The
Tonight Show, and The PJ's. In 1994 he left along with Al Jean to create
The Critic. Mike Reiss has written more than a dozen episodes of The
Simpsons, four of which have won him Emmy's. He has also produced more
than half of the total episodes. Reiss is also the only person to the
hold the job of executive producer on The Simpsons for a single season.

David Mirkin is most famous for his time as executive script supervisor
on Newhart during the 1980's. He also has writing credits for Three's
Company and The Larry Sanders Show.

Name: Bill Oakley
and Josh Weinstein
Birthday: 1965
Seasons: 7-8
Bill Oakley and Josh Weinstein have been a team on almost all of their
credits, which include Futurama, Mission Hill, The Mullets, and The
Funkhousers. In 1999 they founded Oakley/Weinstein Productions, under
which they created both Mission Hill and The Mullets. Both men were
writers for the show until season 7 when they were promoted to co-EP's.

Name: Mike Scully
Birthday: October 2, 1956
Seasons: 9-12
Mike Scully is the infamous destroyer of The Simpsons. His "credits"
include The Pitts and Complete Savages. He has also written for
Everybody Loves Raymond, but it should be noted that Scully did not
become a writer on that show until season eight. He is constantly
admonished by internet fans of The Simpsons but still defends his time
as executive producer.
