Also, the overbearing student Artie Ziff is still fuming over his ill-fated prom date. Marge, on the other hand, is sick of people judging her relationship with Homer. Afraid of her reputation being ruined, she decides to stage a break-up with Homer in front of the whole school at an assembly. However, things don’t go to plan when Artie immediately tries to score Marge on the rebound. Homer is upset that Marge is ashamed of their relationship and decides to change himself, for her. Marge, realising what Homer has become, agrees that her reputation isn’t so important and allows people to judge. Thankfully after a week, people are already forgetting they are together... all except Artie. Meanwhile, a visiting Jill causes a stir when both Lenny and Carl are attracted by her new look. 2.11: “The Band” Inspired by a visiting band (Played by The Shins), Homer, Barney, Lenny and Carl decide to form a band. Marge, the manager, notices that none of them can sing and encourage them to get a fifth member to do vocals. They are shocked to discover Artie Ziff (who shockingly has an amazing voice) has volunteered. The band immediately accept and Artie joins them. Marge has her concerns about hiring him, however. One week later, the band already have their first gig, to perform at the Springfield High café. Having only a weekend to prepare, the band find themselves arguing and going through the misery every band goes through sooner or later. What’s worse is that Homer learns that Artie only joined the band to make a move on Marge. Now, he must re-unite the arguing band and find a replacement for Artie (who has been swiftly kicked out). Working alone, he has to do this in just one hour before the performance is set to begin. 3.10: “The Comeback” Homer is excited when he realises that his old band has been asked to appear in a comeback special. Lenny and Carl have their doubts, and Tommy faces the pressure in replacing the jailed Barney. Homer manages to convince Lenny and Carl and the night soon arrives. However, the band find themselves being booed immediately off stage due to the absence of Barney. Tommy takes the insults too literally and refuses to be a part of the band. Homer is excited when the band gets another gig, but must first deal with Tommy. Lenny and Carl, on the other hand, are caught up in trying to get Artie Ziff (the vocalist) to appear in the gig. Homer unsuccessfully convinces Tommy to re-join the band and is stuck without a guitarist. He is shocked when his “friend” and lawyer Lionel Hutz shows up and puts on an amazing performance. Homer lets him join the band and the concert is a success, although they decide to put their band to rest afterwards. See this guide in its entirety here. |
